How to create Home Pages

What You Will Need

Below is a list of the information your club must submit using our online Registration Form to create a Home Page. To get an idea of how the text and images you provide will look, check out the How It Will Look page.

Club Supervisor's Name: This is for our records only. It will not appear on your Home Page.

Club Name: This is the main title that appears at the top of your Home Page and should consist of the name of the school, daycare centre or Brownie troop or other youth group your club is part of.

Club Number: If you don't have your club number, please make sure to complete ALL other information to make sure we know who you are. You can also contact eko@earthday.ca to obtain your club number if you have misplaced it.

City & Province: This will appear in the "Club Profile" area of your Home Page.

Number of Members, Age Range: This will appear in the "Club Profile" area of your Home Page.

E-mail: Please provide us with a contact e-mail. This is for our records only. It will not appear on your Home Page unless you have chosen to include it in the Main Home Page Text nor will it be distributed to other parties.

Home Page Title: This text will appear at the top of your Home Page under the "Club Name."

Introduction: This text will appear under the "Home Page Title" and should consist of a brief introduction describing the topic of your Home Page. Please provide no more than 200 characters (3-4 sentences) for this area.

Club Profile Text: This information is optional and will appear under the "Club Profile" area. Here you can provide us with a bit more information for the "Club Profile" such as, how often your club meets or how old your club is. Please provide no more than 250 characters (4-5 sentences) for this area.

Main Home Page Text: See the Preparing the Text & Images section for more information about formatting the text. There is no limit to the number of words allowed but your page will look best if you provide no more than 600 words for this section.

TIP: You can copy and paste the Introduction, Club Profile Text and Main Home Page Text right out of your word processing software (like AppleWorks, ClarisWorks or Microsoft Word) so don't forget to take advantage of the spell-check included in your word processor before you complete the form.

You can provide two images for your Home Page. The images can be photographs, scans of artwork or anything else you can think of but they must be saved in one of the popular image file formats: ".gif" or ".jpg" or ".bmp". Please submit a photo submission form with all photographs.

If you are using a scanner, your scanning software should allow you to save the scans this way. If you are using a digital camera, the camera software may automatically provide the images in the proper format. NB: Your image name should be something like this:" myimage.gif".
Do not use spaces or capitals within the name: "myimage.gif" NOT "My Image.gif".

Captions: These image captions are optional. They will appear under your image(s) and should ideally consist of no more than 1 to 2 sentences.
