We also continued with our anti-idling campaign this year. Our goal was to raise awareness in the school and surrounding community about the harmful effects of idling. We visited each classroom in our school to raise awareness. Our campaign was also presented to several teachers from other school boards in Quebec. We prepared posters to send to schools in our region so that they could also participate in the campaign. We also contacted our new Transport Superintendent requesting her to resend the no idling policy to all of our district schools.
As a result of our work on anti-idling in our community, our project has been selected for the United Nations International Children's Conference taking place in Stavanger, Norway, June 17th - 21st 2008. We are very excited to be attending this event and look forward to presenting our campaign there.
When we learned about the UNEP´s Billion Tree Campaign, we decided we wanted to help. We made a poster to promote the campaign and requested that all Elementary and Secondary schools in our area become involved. We created pledge forms for each individual tree pledge, tallied the results, and posted them on the official UNEP webpage. This project was very successful as it helped us understand more about global warming and some of the positive things that we can do to help prevent climate change.

Another great project we participated in was the "Grocery Bag Project". All of our classes participated in decorating paper bags with Earth Day messages. These bags were then sent to a local Metro Grocery Store to be used by customers on Earth Day. This project was a lot of fun to organize, and many of our students showed amazing creativity!
