We also had a school assembly to discuss the three Rs and to introduce our litterless lunch program. During three days, over 500 litterless lunches were made and brought to school by students! Participants were awarded the bronze, silver, and gold star depending on the number of waste-free lunches they brought. An honour list was placed in the front lobby acknowledging everyone´s efforts. To follow up, science teachers will be doing activities on waste and recycling in their classrooms.
We began to plant seeds and flowers to beautify the front of our school. Students, teachers, and parents participated in all of our schoolyard greening projects. We look forward to next year when Eco-Quartier will return to begin teaching us about composting.
Other projects we worked on this year include:
- Eco-Warriors recycling team
- Viewing An Inconvenient Truth
- Earth Day activity workbook by Science teachers
- Mini waste audit
- Family gardening and pizza party
- Ongoing school yard greening projects
