Until this year, there had been no recycling in our school cafeteria. We thought this was very irresponsible, especially given the attention the environment has recieved this year both in the media and society. Our Green Club decided to change this. We established a recycling program for the cafeteria. Now we are able to divert a significant amount of garbage from the landfill.

The entire school is involved in recycling in the lunchroom and we encourage everyone to use as many reusable items as possible. This not only reduces waste, but also reduces the amount of material going into our recycling program, therefore reducing the amount of energy consumed to recycle those products. Overall we are very happy with our progress and can´t wait to expand the program next year!
