Environmental awareness is very important to our Green Team. We have created displays to educate staff and students on various environmental issues. We have been raising awareness about the need to recycle though our recyclable art competitions. We also hold annual kite days to celebrate wind energy and promote our anti-idling campaign so that our school can become an emissions-free area.
Our other projects and activities include:
- "Pennies for the Planet" fundraiser
- Schoolyard Restoration Team
- School-wide conference with "Green" guest speakers
- Earth Rangers presentations
- Participation in the Yellow Fish Road program
- Adoption of endangered animals thought the World Wildlife Fund
- Monthly community newsletter highlighting our environmental activities
- Recognized by the Town of Markham in the "Communities in Bloom" contest
- Recognized as an EcoSchool
We are proud of our commitment to the environment. We are continually looking for new ways to contribute to the health of the environment, improving and maintaining the quality of our school grounds and community. Although we are a young school, we have accomplished much and we plan to grow and improve even more as we strive towards a greener future.
"From seeds we soar, seeking greener grounds and more!"– A grade eight student
