This year we focussed on our recycling program, beautifying our school and energy conservation. The Recycling Crew helps our caretaker two days a week to sort paper and containers. We even created a display at the front entrance of our school to show how important recycling is to us. We promote litterless lunches everyday. Students and staff are encouraged to bring reusable containers for lunches and drinks to cut down on the amount of garbage and recycling.

The Green Team has been busy greening our front gardens. In two years we have planted over 650 tulip bulbs around our school and in our front gardens. Next year, we are hoping to focus on shading parts of the school property.
The Energy Savers work hard to ensure that all of the lights are off when our classes leave any room. They also ensure that computers are turned off when not in use. As a result of their efforts, we have become more energy conscious and understand how we can make a difference in our own school to reduce energy consumption.

In October, five student-representatives attended a school board Eco-Conference where they were honoured for their roles as environmental leaders within the school. The overall goal of the conference was to encourage our continued involvement in environmental activities, especially energy conservation, waste minimization, school greening, and ecological literacy.
As an EcoSchool, we hope to develop life long habits to keep our Earth healthy. Our mission for the 2007-2008 school year will be to become stewards of the Earth and to continue the ECO-spirit in our school and community.
