E.W. Norman Public School

This year our main goal was to develop, begin and maintain a recycling program. We presented an educational skit to the entire school to introduce and educate the staff and students about the 3 R´s and what their role was in creating a successful recycling program. We focussed on the most important R, Reducing. We made sure that students and staff knew that everyone needs to reduce the amount of garbage they produce. This program was a huge success and led us to believe that we would be able to become a much greener school.

We also initiated an ongoing environmental contest among all the classrooms in our school. We challenged them to take on a monthly environmental project. This was also a huge success. The winner of the monthly challenge got to keep the "Friends of the Environment" banner in their classroom for that month. Below are some of the activities that students participated in. They were lots of fun and very good for the planet!

Our main goal this year was to improve environmental awareness within the school and reduce our ecological footprint. We know we are succeeding as we see a huge change in both the actions and attitudes of staff and students. We hope that these activities have raised awareness in the homes of our students as well.
