Bertie Elementary School

This year our main focus was on the issues surrounding climate change. We worked very hard to link this global issue to our own community. Southern Ontario faced severe flooding this year. After the flood, all of our sewage was pumped into Lake Erie. This disaster sparked our interest in global warming and we decided to create a video about what is happening to our environment. The title of the video is "Stop the World, I Want to Get Off". During the film we wanted to emphasize the fact that the Earth is in danger right now, the polar ice caps are melting, and we are the only ones who can do something about it.

The scenes we showed in the film were based on real things that people can do help stop climate change and save the environment. We showed that activities like walking instead of driving, taking showers instead of baths, and using fluorescent bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs can all help to make a difference.

We feel that everyone needs to understand global warming and how it will not only affect them but the world. We hope that everyone will begin to take action, in order to save our Earth, because time is ticking and we don´t have long to fix the damage we have done.
