This year we focussed on raising environmental awareness at our school. We invited representatives from the City of Brampton to give a presentation about the "3 Rs" to our school to teach us about waste management and about composting. We were also able to send some students to hear Elizabeth May talk about how we need to help the environment and follow the Kyoto Protocol.
We had a Green Day challenge on April 5th. All students were challenged to wear green. This was a huge success and made us all aware of what the Earth does for us, and how we should try to be green all the time. We also conducted environmental audits of all of the classes in our school to see who was the most environmentally-friendly. Afterwards, we scheduled a yard cleanup to make sure the outside of our school was as green as the inside!
We continue to present environmental information and tips during our morning announcements. We also created a poster campaign to make students and staff more aware of important environmental issues. The next project we´d like to take on is to plant more flowers and trees around our school – to beautify our schoolyard.
