This year we accomplished many great environmental initiatives. We implemented the first recycling/composting program of any school in our district. This meant that there were a lot of changes that happened in classrooms to try and reduce, reuse and recycle! The Green Team led the way and now, students in each classroom give up 15 minutes of their play time each day to ensure that plastic and metal containers are rinsed out and recycled.

Our Green Team has been responsible for teaching the entire school about the importance of recycling and composting. Instead of putting 30-40 garbage bags out to the curb each week, we have now reduced it to three or four. Students are now fully responsible for running this initiative and they participate actively in it each day.

For Earth Day, we participated in many activities including quizzes, relays and presentations. Our Green Team led the activities and each member was highlighted on our morning announcements. We really enjoy making our school greener and can´t wait to continue with our efforts next year!
