Teachers' Advisory Committee
All spaces in the 2007-2009 Teachers' Advisory Committee are now full! We will be accepting applications for new members for the 2009-2011 TAC term beginning January 2009.
The Teachers’ Advisory Committee (TAC) is a young and growing component of the EcoKids Program. We are looking for feedback from a group of dedicated educators to help us refine existing elements of the program as well as develop new ones.
TAC is designed to facilitate the sharing of valuable insight and experience of teachers and educators across Canada and incorporating it into the EcoKids Program. We need your input and participation to ensure that EcoKids meets your needs and the needs of environmental educators across Canada.
Objective - Requirements - Expectations - Benefits - Registration Form
To maintain our status as one of the best Canadian environmental education programs for children, we are constantly evaluating our program to improve the format, delivery and efficacy of our materials and to increase youth engagement.
In order to ensure that the materials are useful, educational, fun and age appropriate, we need help from the experts -- the adults and children for whom these materials are ultimately created. We need your practical input so that EcoKids continues to meet and exceed expectations.
We are looking to select a team of 12 Canadian educators who are actively involved in environmental education; who come from various locations across the country (and represent urban and rural areas); and preferably, who are already familiar with the EcoKids Program.
We ask for a two year commitment from members as this will allow us to actively implement suggestions from members and get feedback on changes that are implemented from one year to the next.
However, if joining for two years does not suit your busy schedule we welcome members who are able to make a one-year commitment as well.
As a member you will:
- Contribute your insight and experience toward
developing educational materials that you can use
with your class or group
- Learn more about using technology in the classroom and bring new internet-based projects to your classroom
- Increase your comfort level with online methods
of communication
- Interact with other educators across the country
- Receive an honorarium towards the purchase of environmental education supplies
