Materials
Educational resources - books, pictures, demonstration materials, cards, etc. - can be used to enhance learning. It is very advisable to use some materials during your lesson, to keep the students interested and to help them remember the concepts and phenomena you talk about (students learn better if they can visualize). Here some suggestions for material that you can use:
- Black board - You should always try to use the black board or a flip-over to write down important words.
- Paper and pencils - During most lessons you would like the students to write things down, make a drawing or come up with a plan. The teacher should be able to provide these materials, but make sure you discuss this before the start of your lesson.
- Pictures - Always a great idea is to bring pictures from magazines, poster and/or books with you to illustrate issues that you discuss during the lesson
- Demonstration material - Some lesson plans require a demonstration. For these lesson plans some simple materials such as glasses, bottles and water have to be collected and brought into the classroom.
- Additional material - For some lesson plans additional materials like work sheets or cards are necessary. You can find these materials below the lesson plan.
Remember - you are teaching students about our environment and how to protect it; make sure you can 'walk the talk' by setting the right example; do not waste paper, water or energy when you are in the class room and recycle the materials that you use!
