Unique Qualities:
With a body length of 30.5 cm and a total length from tip to toe of about 91 cm, the Goliath frog is the largest known frog in the world. Specimens have been found who weigh in excess of 3.2 kg (about the size of a small cat).
Can be Seen:
These frogs are found in only a small area of the coastal regions of Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea in western Africa.
Likes to Hang Out:
Goliath frogs live in dense rainforest, but only in areas where they can have access to fast flowing rivers.
Likes to Eat:
These frogs feed on fish, birds, crustaceans, insects, other frogs and mammals.
Status:
The Goliath frog is listed as vulnerable. Its habitat is being threatened by deforestation, dam building and private collectors.
