Round 2

NOTE:

Data Detectives Round 2 should be completed AFTER any awareness, flyers, announcements and poster activities are started. This will allow for a before and after comparison. See the Switch off! Calendar Plan

1. Repeat the Idling Observations

Note: When recording and observing in Round 2, remember to use the same methods as in Round 1 (e.g. in the same location and for the same period of time.)

Repeat the same instructions from A and B for Round 1

Note: Review the importance of recording and observing using the same methods as in Round 1, e.g. in the same location and for the same period of time.

2. Write up the methods of how data was collected for Data Detectives Rounds 1 and 2

Compare and contrast results of Round 1 and Round 2. Find out if people reduced their idling time as a result of your Switch off! Campaign. Send your results to ecokids@earthday.ca

Extra! Extra!

Using old magazines, create a collage of pictures and phrases depicting what community involvement/spirit means to them. Have the students tell the rest of the school about their experiences.

Organize a Walk to School day, or better yet, a Walking School Bus! (visit www.greeenestcity.org for more information). Encourage groups of students to creatively present newly learned material to other classes.
