People have caused climate change, and people can do something about it. Even kids can help out. Solutions to climate change all revolve around reducing the production of greenhouse gases. Check out the following suggestions and see how many you can do today and everyday.
- Bike, rollerblade or walk short distances instead of getting a ride
- Take public transportation for longer distances
- Encourage adults you know to drive less and carpool when they do drive
- Remind adults you know not to idle their cars
- Turn the lights, computers and TVs off when you leave a room
- Recycle – it takes more energy to make new things than it does to recycle old ones
- Try to buy products that have less packaging
There are some things that governments and companies need to do to help prevent climate change too. One main way is to change the way that we make electricity. Currently, most electricity is made from burning fossil fuels. There are other ways to produce energy that create less greenhouse gases and deplete less resources. These are called renewable energy sources, which include wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, hydrogen and hydro.
