For Kids and Teachers
1. Why can't my computer run some of your games?
In order to use the EcoKids website, some computer requirements are necessary. See the requirements listed below:
- EcoKids recommends you have a 56k modem (or higher) to explore the site. If you have a smaller 28.8k modem, certain games will not work on your computer or may take a very long time to download.
- To use EcoKids, you need to have Shockwave and Flash 6 or higher installed on your browser. This will allow you to view most of the site and play some of the games. To play some of the newer games, you may need Flash 9 which is the latest version of Flash. To check which version you have, visit this page: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ or, you can download them here for free:

(Always remember to ask your parents for permission before you download anything new onto your computer.) - The EcoKids site will work best on a Windows 98 (or higher) or Macintosh 9.5 (or higher) Operating System.
- The EcoKids site will work best if you have at least 32MB of RAM in your computer.
- EcoKids is best viewed on screen sizes of 1024x768 pixels.
2. Who do I contact if I'm still having technical difficulties?
If you are having technical difficulties, contact the Program Coordinator at eko@earthday.ca or call us at 416-599-1991 x101 (in Toronto) or 1-888-283-2784 x101. Please make sure to clearly explain the problems you are having.
3. I'm looking for new activity ideas for my class. Who can I contact?
Contact the Program Coordinator (eko@earthday.ca or call us at 416-599-1991 x101 (in Toronto) or 1-888-283-2784 x101) for any program support you may require.
4. Why can't I login to your club area?
The club section is only for use by EcoKids clubs members with a valid password.
5. Who can be an EcoKids club member?
Any Canadian educator (teacher, after school care giver, or youth group leader) can register for membership to the EcoKids club.
6. How do I become a member of the EcoKids club?

7. Can I reproduce and distribute EcoKids website material?
Content may be reproduced without permission provided it falls under the Copyright Act and is for personal use or educational purposes within a classroom or youth group (i.e. Brownies, Scouts) setting. Any content reproduced from the EcoKids web site must be fully credited as follows: "(title of content) from EcoKids, ecokids.ca. Reproduced with the permission of Earth Day Canada, copyright xxxx (year). Please contact the Program Coordinator (eko@earthday.ca) if you would like to inquire about using EcoKids materials for other purposes.
8. Do you do presentations at schools? How can I get a guest speaker or presenter?
EcoKids staff do not usually deliver presentations at schools. However, we provide an extensive list of guest speakers located across Canada. Please take a look at our Guest Speakers List in the teachers section of the website. .Â
9. How often do you offer contests?
EcoKids offers two annual contests, The Great EcoKids Challenge and the EcoKids Online Scavenger Hunt. Smaller contests are offered seasonally, during the year.
10. What age group is EcoKids material appropriate for?
EcoKids materials have been developed for elementary school aged children (ages 7-12). However, our material is adaptable for older or younger age groups.
11. Where can I find out about how to participate in the Great EcoKids Challenge?

12. Do you have any free resources for teachers?
Visit the teachers section to find printables, the Eco-Calender and other resources that are free to download and reproduce for the purpose of education in a non-profit setting. To order a free Eco-Calendar poster, click here.
13.How do I find out about other Earth Day Canada programs?
Visit earthday.ca to find out more about the other programs Earth Day Canada offers. Educators in the greater Toronto area may be interested in our ecoMentors program for high school students.
For Club Supervisors
1. I'm trying to logon to the Club Supervisors' section, but I forgot my club password.
Contact the Program Coordinator (eko@earthday.ca) for your password. Please make sure to state your name and school/organization. Your password will always be located on the top left hand corner of the mailing label of your EcoKids packages.
2. Where can I find out more about what I receive as an EcoKids club member?
You can find out more about EcoKids club membership in the EcoKids Club Supervisors' Guide.
3. What do I do if I'm moving schools, retiring, going on parental leave, or taking a leave of absence from my school?
Please contact the Program Coordinator (eko@earthday.ca) to update your contact information. We will either ask you for a new contact person or cancel your membership. Helping us keep our records up to date helps to reduce the waste produced from unwanted packages that are sent out.
5. How do I cancel my membership?
To cancel your membership, please contact the Program Coordinator (eko@earthday.ca).
6. How can my class/youth group get a homepage on the website?
We encourage every EcoKids club to submit material for their very own club homepage on our website. Please visit the Club Homepages section of the website for more information.
7. Do you have any free goodies for club members?
EcoKids club supervisors can order free goodies like bookmarks and stickers by visiting the club section or click here.
